Yesterday marked the start of David packing. August for us is quite a busy month; with planned drinks and birthdays, to a week long trip to Glasgow followed by a weekend in Portsmouth. That means that with the moving date being September 6th, the big day is going to creep up faster than you can say rent-a-van.
With that in mind David wanted to begin getting a few things packed, the nonessential stuff like books, DVDs and coats (ambitious with a looming trip to Scotland, we know!).
First things first was the hunt for boxes. David currently lives on Northwood high street, a breeding ground for disused cardboard critters. After an attempt at a string of shops with no avail, we managed to grab one from the gift card shop and another enormously generous & ideal batch from the hardware store. The very kind gentleman let us have our pick from his collection at the back, so we left with a good dozen or so in a variety of sizes – as well as two rolls of brown tape.
From then on it was a case of taking this opportunity to have ruthless clear out – two full bin bags of rubbish and a charity bag full of clothes, bags, hats and scarves later along with 6 packed boxes, a suitcase and several other bags and we were done. *phew*

For now anyway… a week before the move we just need to finish packing some more of David’s clothes and mountain of shoes – but that shouldn’t take too long at all…
A good start if we do say so ourselves!
