A holiday to a tropical paradise might be a pipe dream to us right now while we save to furnish our dream flat, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be inspired by exotic vistas and serene beaches while we ponder interiors. Until we can board a ten-hour flight to somewhere hot and sunny, we thought we’d bring a touch of the Caribbean into our style and to bring the holiday to us!
We like to seek inspiration from the world around us and the simplicity of these leaves next to a tiled wall in David’s mum’s toilet were no exception. The contrast of the leafy green with the stark white tiles made us think that there is no reason to not add these injections of colour. Also, while grabbing a quick cuppa in the garden, this tropical ceramic mug complemented the sunshine perfectly and made us want to swap tea for a piña colada!
We’ve spotted some key pieces for our flat that we’d love to incorporate to bring the sunshine home. These amazing tea towels by Zara Home would certainly spice up our kitchen area and take the monotony out of doing the washing up and this bowl from M&S is a great little vessel to brighten up the coffee table.

However, when it comes to creating a tropical look, it doesn’t have to be all pineapples and parrots. We spotted this amazing cushion from Oliver Bonas which transports you to the beach from the comfort of the sofa (which we still need to find!). Also from Oliver Bonas, we loved this really simple bowl with a flash of hot pink or if it’s a true colour injection you’re after, how about this African cushion from Maud Interiors? All of these items combined in a lounge would create a summery look to take us abroad. And let’s not forget those added details, like this cute candle from Zara Home.

The pièce de résistance for any tropical look would have to be this fantastic wall mural from Surface View, stocked at John Lewis. I mean, who doesn’t want a flamingo at over two metres high dominating a room? Ideally, we’d place it behind a freestanding bath (that’s the dream!) but it would look fantastic as a feature wall in a bedroom, lounge or dining room.

We hope you enjoy taking this trip to a Tropical paradise with us!
Happy wanderlust,
David & Mark x
