For Christmas, Mark bought David this wee sewing machine from John Lewis – isn’t it braw?

Firstly, for anyone who is looking to have a gander in to sewing and is looking for a beginners sewing machine we would definitely recommend this one. An easy set-up and simple settings make this perfect for a non-pro like David. It seems that the orange one is unfortunately no longer available online however there are a selection of other really great colours which you can find here and here.

The sewing machine was purchased because David is aiming to make a patchwork quilt which is a continuous project – much like the Edinburgh trams. He’s currently compiling all the patches and then will begin the quilt… but more on that in another post.

For his first undertaking he decided to make a cushion for Mark’s birthday and a cushion is what he made. Now what other material would one choose for a Glaswegian than tartan – hoots mon!

Look at it, sitting there in all it’s glory, ready to snuggle up on a (still non existent) sofa! Perfect for when we’re having a wee dram.

More crafty bits and pieces to hopefully come!

Haste ye back,
David & Mark x
