- Interiors: A roller coaster ride… Literally
While this space is usually reserved for a the something special we find during the week, we couldn’t ignore this genius way of showing a house – courtesy of a very clever man from Holland. This in-house roller coaster takes viewers around the house, showing them every detail while giving them what looks like a pretty fun ride – brilliant!
- Food: pie-eyed
A couple of weekends ago we, along with a couple of friends, headed to the little village of Downe for a country pub lunch. The requirements were: something a little out of London, a village, a cosy pub (ideally with a fireplace) and somewhere with amazing food.
We found ourselves at the George & Dragon pub and the food definitely did not disappoint. Mark went for a traditional sausage and mash whilst the other three opted for the pub’s homemade pies (which we had read raving reviews about on Tripadvisor!) – the pies did not disappoint!
Although the food was crazy good, the pub unfortunately didn’t offer us the cosy fireplace we hoped for and instead was actually a rather chilly affair. A couple of pints and a homemade apple crumble later though and we didn’t seem to care.
When we left, night had fallen and our tummies were full, the perfect Saturday afternoon if you ask us.
- Places to go: Alternative in East London? Never…
We’re a little over everything being ‘alternative’ and ‘quirky’ in East London (you must admit, it’s becoming exhausting), but we are loving the Victoria Park alternative to Winter Wonderland, Winterville. Less kids, more alcohol but still with an ice rink. The venue is ‘gay friendly’ and there’s plenty happening on a daily basis for it to be just as fun, but not as crowded as its Hyde Park counterpart.
Running until the 1st January, there’s plenty of time to head over and have fun.
- Just because: which way to Wonderland?
