Last week, Mark and I got our glad rags on and headed to the Ham Yard Hotel for the Amara Interior Blog Awards 2016.
As many of you know, we were shortlisted for the Best Design Inspiration award and we’re still pinching ourselves that our name was read out as the winner!
Here’s how the night went down…
Think of it as the Oscars of the interior blogger world, this is the third year of the IBA’s and after two years of being Leonardo DiCaprio we were ready to be Meryl Streep.
The evening started with cocktails, canapes, boozing and schmoozing and little nervous tummies! Once everyone was a little merry we moved our way into the Irn-Bru inspired auditorium to take our seats ready for the ceremony.
After an introduction and welcome from Amara’s Creative Director, Sam Hood, the oh-so fabulous Sophie Robinson took to the stage to host the evening’s celebrations.
After some laughs (and just a couple of technical mishaps) it was time to get serious and dish out some awards. At this point, as Amy Poehler would say – we wanted the pudding – so when it came to our category, there was a lot of white knuckles and downing of prosecco.
Faced with such strong competition from the other bloggers, when we heard Sophie announce that first “Fo-” our stomachs jumped into our mouths and we jumped off our seats. We are so thrilled to have won and be recognised by such an amazing organisation, industry experts and blogger community.

Unlike the Oscars, we didn’t get to do a speech but we would like to say thank you to Amara for hosting such a fabulous event and holding the awards, to the judges for selecting us, to John Nassari, the evenings photographer and sponsor of our category and finally, friends, family and fans for voting for us and being so supportive. We started the blog as a bit of fun and it’s so lovely that it has been acknowledged as a go-to platform for interior design news.
The rest of the evening was fuelled with many a cocktail and a lot of laughs. The one thing which was so fantastic was coming away from the awards feeling like part of a family. The interior blogger community is really quite something and it is so lovely to sit alongside such amazingly creative bloggers. Well done to our fellow winners but also to everyone shortlisted and nominated.
If you’d like to see us crack a few smiles on stage and Mark adjust his tie then click here and head to 19 minutes!
Thanks so much for coming with us on this journey so far and here’s to the next chapter!
