Supper clubs have become hugely popular in the past year or two. Great food, a brilliant atmosphere and plenty of flowing conversation in an intimate setting – what’s not to love? However, undertaking your own supper club or dinner party can be a daunting task. Enter the effortlessly cool duo, Jackson & Levine.
You may recognise these two broadcasters from the telly (Laura Jackson, Take Me Out: The Gossip) or from the airwaves (Alice Levine, BBC Radio 1 and the My Dad Wrote a Porno podcast). Well, back in 2012, these girls started the Jackson & Levine supper club from Laura’s flat in East London and before they knew it everyone wanted an invite.
A couple of weeks ago we were thrilled to be invited by Jackson & Levine and Habitat for an intimate evening at Habitat’s Tottenham Court Road store. As two chaps who appreciate a great bite to eat and who are obviously huge fans of interior design, this was the perfect setting for the girls to show off how a supper club is done right.
The food was delicious. From the canapés of crudités, flatbread, labneh and beetroot dip to the watermelon salad and Eton mess to finish, each bite was incredible.
It’s the space however that is just as impressive. From the flittering candles and perfectly placed ceramics through to the foraged florals arranged by WORM, the table was beautifully decorated.
Habitat has worked with Jackson & Levine on an exclusive range of homewares. This capsule collection comprises hand-woven table and kitchen linens including an apron, table runner, tablemats, napkins and a set of tea towels, which coincide with the launch of Jackson & Levine’s first book, Round to Ours.
Working with Habitat’s oldest supplier in India, the designs are created on a khadi base cloth. With a botanical motif and a neutral palette of cream and green, the collection takes inspiration from the foraged herbs the girls use in their cooking and table decorating.
If you want to get your hands on the Habitat x Jackson & Levine collection then head to Habitat’s London flagship stores or online here. Round to Ours is also out now priced at £25. Comprising 24 menus and top tips on creating the perfect supper club, we have our hands on a copy and could not recommend it enough!
A fantastic collection, don’t you think?
Thank you to Habitat for the kind invite to the supper club and to Alice and Laura who are perfect hosts and brilliant company. Also a thank you to Terri and Katie, the brains behind WORM, who sent us away with plenty of tips on flower arranging!
