Well, it’s official, Christmas Party season is upon us. It’s that magical time of year where you have to chase down two paracetamol with a processo containing a Berocca in it just to get through Tuesday. If your diary is anything like ours, you’ll be relishing those nights at home in front of the telly.
But, when it comes to binge drinking, there’s no reason you can’t add a little festive jazz to an event you’re hosting or a night in. After all, in December, it’s ALWAYS 5 o’clock somewhere.
Last Christmas, we got a lovely cocktail set as a present and it’s been put through its paces this year. We’ve mastered everything from Negronis to Cosmopolitans, Espresso Martinis to Sidecars. However, our favourite so far is the classic Gin Martini – and we’ve even put a bit of a Forward Features twist on it for you guys.

Now, how do we create our signature gin Martini you ask? Some people are put off by them as it’s just sheer alcohol – but a little twist of lemon is enough to take the edge off.
All you need are three ingredients:
- 70ml of Gin
- 70ml of Vermouth (we get any supermarket’s own brand)
- Juice of half a lemon
- Ice
First, pop some ice cubes in your martini glasses. This gives them that lovely frosted effect when it comes to pouring…
Once you’ve done that, pop some more ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and pop the spirits in. Squeeze the juice of the lemon into the mix and give it a really, really good shake. We find that the mixer gets really cold, so unless you’re brave, get a tea towel for that part.
Finally, remove the ice cubes from the now chilled glass, get your strainer and pour the lovely cloudy mixture in. Voila!
Make sure you cheers – while making that all important eye contact – sit back, relax and don’t have too many because they’re quite strong and quite addictive!
