- Fashion: Mo’s for your toes
It’s November, that time of year when many men adopt a fuzzy caterpillar upon their top lip. Movember raises money for men’s health, whether it’s through growing a “mo” or through collaborations like this one…
This is the fifth year that TOMS has teamed up with Movember with a range of moustache motifed men’s and women’s shoes.

- Interiors: A star of stage and screen-printing
Part of the Dulux Colour of the Future talk was the Material Lab, a couple of rooms where we got to have a little play with paint.
We also got to meet designer Zoe Murphy who grabbed our attention with her beautifully designed, screen-printed furniture one piece of which was a gorgeous sideboard where Zoe used the Colour of the Year Copper Blush to inject her take on the upcoming trend.
We particularly loved the wood painted effect – something we’re definitely planning to use soon!
- Food: finger lickin’ chicken
Last week we went two stops North to Balham to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Harrison’s was the restaurant of choice and although the service severely lacked (long time waiting just for our drinks order to be taken, asked for two bottles of wine and was presented with two glasses), the food was really tasty and the atmosphere in their is lovely – all in all, we came out happy bunnies and that’s what’s important.
Mark went for the lamb and chorizo burger which was tasty, although lacked the chorizo taste a little. David went for the Nashville Hot Chicken (image below), which was delicious.
The menu is seasonal which we love, so at the moment it’s full of Autumnal goodies such as pumpkin pie. Definitely worth a visit.
- Places to go: beep beep
Not content with announcing their Tubes will run 24hrs in 2015, TFL have named 2014 the Year of the Bus. To celebrate this, 60 mini-Routemaster buses have been placed all over London (including 28 in Trafalgar Square – one designed by our good friends at Mini Moderns) so it’s quite fun to do a little treasure hunt of them – think along the lines of the eggs a few years ago. Mark spied this one by Edgeware Road, but we hear they are all over and you can post them with the #yearofthebus tag – happy snapping!
- Just because: #MontyThePenguin
Apart from the ever nostalgic Coca-Cola Christmas advert (gives us little tingles just thinking about it), the John Lewis Christmas advert has fast become one to keep an eye out for.
Usually themed around love (because love, actually is all around), and always with a twee British singer as the soundtrack, this year’s offering is no exception with Monty the penguin as the starring role.
We shall say no more. Just watch and let the warm, tingly joy spill right over you!
