When big Christmas trees don’t fit in to small London flats and flashy decorations are out of the budget, it’s time to think of some alternative ways to bring the festive season in to the home so we’ve found some great little twists…

A Poinsettia, with it’s red and green leaves, make for the perfect faux Christmas tree.

Or, to really save the pennies how about this idea of creating a tree around your shelving? Simply get some beautiful passementerie (a.k.a trimmings), funky tape or some thick rope and create a tree shape.

This is a really simple idea which could be adapted to a variety of rooms from a country kitchen where it frames nic-nacs and beautiful crockery to a contemporary living with colour-coordinated books.

Bring in the glitterarti with some simple metallic trim – hang from the doors and windows to give the house that party vibe.

There are other easy fabric options such as these tasseled decorations which are cost effective and impactful.

Little ideas but perfect touches for Christmas.

Ho, ho, ho
