Quite some time ago, we were strolling down the street when we came across a floor lamp needing a good home. Never ones to pass up on a freebie, the adopted lamp now stands proudly in our living room corner. It has however continued to sport a boring shade, well – boring shade be gone! Enter Pooky

With an extensive collection of shades, as well as fantastic bases, Pooky offer an eclectic mix of lighting designs perfect for adding a statement look to any room. With new Dupion silk shades as well as the more notable ikat prints, we were spoilt for choice!

Drawing the colours of our living room as inspiration we scoured the website to see what would fit best. From the blues of our sofas, our bold yellow wall, as well as our new splatter cushion from Habitat, we found that the new linen ikat shades offered exactly what we wanted. A mix of reds, greens, yellows and blues, we went with the straight empire printed shade in heraldic. It’s a bold splash of colour perfect for livening, and lighting, up a dull corner.

The ikat print sits happily next to our upcycled Aztec patterned cushions and mixes wonderfully with our palm plants. We went for a 50cm shade, the largest on offer, as we wanted to add a dramatic statement in the room. However, there are of course smaller shades in the range as well as subtler hues for those who aren’t as daring with colour.

It’s made quite the difference, don’t you think?
