Our heart wasn’t completely in last years Dulux Colour of the Year, and, honey, we’re not too sure that this year’s is going to spice up our lives.
Spiced Honey has been announced as Dulux Colour of the Year 2019. The hue, chosen by colour experts at Dulux is a warm amber tone said to “reflect the new positive mood of the moment”. And the colour has been inspired by, you guest it, honey.
We’ve heard hearsay that beige, creams and magnolias are being plucked from the cavernous depths of interior bargain bins and are set to make a return. Is Spiced Honey the first foray back to this muted palette? The past couple of years has been an influx of vibrant greens and stark whites. On contrast, we’ve also been in favour of moody darks, maximalist blooms and, that modern classic, grey. But is it now grey that’s being bumped for a new neutral?
“Spiced Honey can be soothing or calming, cosy or vibrant, depending on the palette you pair it with.” say Dulux. We think that paired with deep blues, warm metals and a tonal palette, maybe Spiced Honey could be sweet. Right now though, it leaves us with a slight bland taste. Let’s see how it progresses, maybe Spiced Honey in small doses is just enough but a whole room? That sounds a bit sickly.
