You would have noticed that we’ve been slowly updating our bedroom. For a while the walls have been the biggest problem, with large blank white spaces making it look sparse and not cosy enough. We’re focusing on the walls bit by bit so following our contemporary Etsy find it’s time to inject some period drama in to the room.

This little nook has the potential to be a lovely reading corner. Currently our charity shop chair sits next to a laundry basket and Mark’s saxophone. A bit of a dull area, even Kiki has lost interest…

After a scout around our new local vintage emporium, Lola and SiDney, we spotted a lovely French painting reproduction. It’s exactly what we had been looking for, something romantic with a bit of theatrical flair. The dusky tones sit perfectly with the floral fabric on our chair.

The frame too is a gem. It unusually has carpeted fabric around the inner edge giving it a textural feel, something you wouldn’t usually come across.

At £20, the framed painting is the perfect addition to the room and is a simple and inexpensive idea to fill a blank space.

We finished off our little space with some coral flowers, a cup of tea and a good read – a great hideaway, don’t you think?
