It’s that time of year when colour trend heavyweights, Pantone, announce its Colour of the Year and for 2017 it’s a fresh and vibrant hue. Please welcome, Greenery

It’s a funny thing when the Pantone Colour of the Year is announced because the design world goes into a frenzy. Bloggers post about the new hue (us included, clearly), magazines compile trend features and tips on how to introduce the colour into the home and social media explodes with announcements and thoughts on the palette. What you don’t realise, however, is that the colour has most likely already crept into your life.

Greenery, the Colour of the Year for 2017, seems to have been greeted with a lot of praise. Following on from 2015’s Marsala – we weren’t fans – and last years dreamy duo, Serenity and Rose Quartz, Greenery is a sprightly green shade and a much needed burst of brightness in the Colour of the Year hall of fame.

Now, many of us will agree that 2016 has been a bit of a sad year for, well, the world, so the thought behind Greenery comes at an excellent time; “A refreshing and revitalising shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings”. Described as a ‘fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring’, many homes have been embracing Greenery for a while now.

We have become slightly obsessed with introducing plants, succulents and cacti into our lives. Blogging plant community, Urban Jungle Bloggers are a perfect example of this and demonstrate a variety of exciting ways to create your own urban jungle. Books such as House of Plants also offer tips and tricks for those not so green-fingered. For the decor of our homes, we seem to have gone crazy for leaf motifs, macrame plant holders and weird and wonderful plant pots and naturally, all of these elements will have a backdrop of Greenery to it. However we also now ‘eat green’, we have matcha tea and look to detox. Our lives have been injected with Greenery and now we’re sure the home will become greener then before.

Whether you’re daring with your schemes and pair Greenery with bold brights or keep that feeling of a spring day by staying neutral, Greenery is an adaptable hue that we’re sure will be a popular choice for 2017.

What do you think of Greenery? We’d love to here your thoughts so please do share by dropping a comment or tweeting us.
